How to Forward Text Messages to MS Teams

Why Forward SMS to MS Teams?

Forwarding SMS to Microsoft Teams helps you:

Prerequisites

Before setting up MS Teams forwarding, make sure you have:

  1. Forward SMS app installed
  2. iOS Shortcuts automation configured (Required first step)
  3. ✅ Microsoft Teams workspace with permissions to create webhooks

Setup Steps

Step 1: Create Teams Incoming Webhook

To forward messages to MS Teams, you need to create an incoming webhook:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams app (desktop or mobile)
  2. Go to your Team and select the Channel where you want to receive messages
  3. Tap More options (•••) next to the channel name
  4. Select Manage Channel
  5. Go to Connectors section and tap Edit
  6. Search for "Incoming Webhook"
  7. Tap Add or Configure
  8. Configure your webhook:
    • Name: Give it a name (e.g., "SMS Forwarding")
    • Image: Optionally upload an icon
  9. Tap Create
  10. Copy the Webhook URL (it looks like https://yourteam.webhook.office.com/webhookb2/...)

Important: Keep this webhook URL private. Anyone with the URL can send messages to your Teams channel.

Step 2: Configure Forward SMS App

Now add the Teams webhook to your Forward SMS app:

  1. Open Forward SMS app
  2. Tap Create New Rule or "+" button
  3. Select MS Teams as the destination type
  4. Paste the Webhook URL you copied from Teams
  5. Tap Send Test Message to test the integration
  6. Check your Teams channel to verify the test message arrived
  7. Tap "Save"

Your SMS messages will now automatically forward to your Microsoft Teams channel!
